The man was arrested around on Monday afternoon by policemen from the Ipakodo division, after a directive from the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.
Alabi, who had separated from his wife for over 20 years, reportedly moved into the building in 2015 after reconciling with his wife, a nurse, who is based in the United States of America.
According to Punch, since Alabi moved into the house, there had been misunderstandings, which had led to the eviction of some relatives in the house.
It was reported that for 10 years, Latifat Adeyemi and her grandma had been living in a bungalow at the back of a house on Ile Eye Street, which was reportedly built by Alabi’s wife.
Adeyemi was said to have been accused of using too much electricity with the air conditioner in her room, which Alabi allegedly removed without her consent.
The duo were said to have had a disagreement over the incident, which led to Alabi hitting the victim with a spanner and later whipping her with a piece of cable.
After the report, CP Owoseni was said to have ordered the arrest of the suspect.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said, “The CP took up the matter and ordered that he should be fished out. He was arrested in his hideout in Ikorodu around 1.30pm. He resisted arrest, but was overpowered by the operatives.
“The case will be transferred to the gender unit of the command as directed by the CP. If he is found culpable, he will be duly prosecuted.”
The Director of the OPD, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, said “The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, has instructed that the matter be charged to court.”
